Emoji
A face with streams of tears coming from its eyes
Description
The TikTok [tears] emoji is a face with two dramatic streams of tears spraying out from its eyes, but with a small smile still curling on its mouth, which makes it read as laughing-crying rather than sad-crying. It is similar to [laughwithtears] but more stylized, with wider cartoonish tear streams. On TikTok, it is used almost exclusively for over-the-top funny reactions where you want to show that a video made you laugh so hard you are basically leaking tears. It also works for "I'm not crying you're crying" wholesome moments if you want a softer vibe than [cry]. It is a very expressive, high-energy emoji for emotional overload.
Usage
Use [tears] when a video is so funny or so moving you want to show you are leaking tears from emotion. It works on extreme comedy videos, heartwarming reveals, and jaw-dropping talent. Try things like "this is unreal [tears]" or "I've watched this ten times [tears] [tears]". Creators use it in captions like "thank you for every single comment [tears]". Pair it with [laughwithtears] for comedy overload or with [cry] for sincere emotional moments. Skip it on sarcastic posts, since the dramatic streams of tears come across as genuinely emotional and can look weird next to dry or ironic commentary.
